Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre is a family oriented cultural attraction operated by the Osoyoos Indian Band. The award-winning rammed-earth interpretive centre is an architectural marvel, built into the hillside using sustainable building techniques. Here you can explore the culture of the Okanagan First Nations & learn about the unique plants & animals of the Osoyoos desert. The 22 hectare site features cultural exhibits, walking trails, outdoor sculptures & hands-on displays. Highlights include a reconstructed aboriginal village with daily guided walks & rattlesnake demonstrations in the summer. Driving Directions: From Kelowna/Penticton & area:
Drive south on Hwy. 97 and follow Hwy. 3 East to Osoyoos. At Osoyoos, turn left on Hwy. 3, which is also Main Street in Osoyoos. Continue on Main Street over the bridge then turn left on 45th Street and follow the signs to Nk'Mip Resort where 45 Street. turns into Rancher Creek Road.
From Vancouver & area:
Take Hwy. 1 East (The Trans-Canada) to Hope, then follow Hwy. 3 East to Osoyoos. Once in Osoyoos, Hwy 3 turns into Main Street. Continue on Main Street over the bridge then turn left on 45th Street and follow the signs to Nk'Mip Resort.
From Calgary and area:
Take Hwy. 1 West (The Trans-Canada) to Sicamous, and follow Hwy. 97A South to Vernon passing through Kelowna, Penticton and continue south on Hwy. 97 until you reach Osoyoos. At Osoyoos, turn left on Hwy. 3, which is also Main Street in Osoyoos. Continue on Main Street over the bridge then turn left on 45th Street and follow the signs to Nk'Mip Resort.
From the USA:
After crossing the border, drive north on Hwy. 97, follow Hwy. 3 East to Osoyoos. Once in Osoyoos, drive east on Main Street, turn left on 45th Street and follow the signs to Nk'Mip Resort.
